Crystal L. Fedeli brings a rare blend of lived experience, social research expertise, and systems-level advocacy to the movement of reimagining alcohol recovery.

Crystal struggled with alcohol for nearly a decade, and the traditional pathways she was offered never met her where she was. Drawing on her dual graduate degrees in Social Research & Analysis and Child Advocacy & Policy with a Public Child Welfare concentration—and nearly 15 years in government, nonprofit, and private sector roles—Crystal turned to the science. She dug into the research, identified the root causes of alcohol addiction, and uncovered evidence-based tools proven to work that also honored choice and reduced stigma. When she sought access to those tools, she faced systemic pushback and bias, yet her background in policy, advocacy, and navigating complex systems enabled her to secure the supports she needed.

The integration of her personal experience, advanced training, and professional expertise made her recovery possible and lasting. And because no program offered a fully choice-driven, stigma-free, evidence-informed pathway, Crystal built the recovery experience she needed for herself.

Her journey led to the Choice Recovery Movement—a systems, program, and policy-focused initiative that helps government, nonprofit, and private organizations expand access to effective, choice-driven, evidence-informed recovery. Crystal now translates research into practical frameworks that close service gaps, reduce stigma, and increase engagement so more people can access healing that works.

Crystal’s mission is simple: to help systems reimagine alcohol recovery so individuals can experience choice, quality of life, and lasting healing.
